The Home

"As if friends are lending you their home"

The Martin-Pêcheur really is a home away from home. This good sized home boasts an open-concept ground floor with three bedrooms on the upper level which opens onto a mezzanine that allows for constant natural light. The rooms are furnished with queen size beds, including proper bedding, a fan, and an alarm clock. If required, a baby’s bed is included in the master bedroom. Additional sleeping arrangements can be made using the comfortable sofa bed in the living room and the three plush futons found on the lower level. This residence promises maximum comfort for three couples, but can accommodate up to a dozen guests for a short stay.

In addition to the bedrooms, the Martin-pêcheur features two bathrooms, a laundry room, a game room, a garage, a shed and a patio.

All the conveniences of modern living can be found in the living room, including television with Bell Express View cable, VCR and DVD players, as well as Internet access. The kitchen contains a dishwasher, plate setting for twelve people, a fondue set, coffee pots, and pots and pans – even fine herbs are provided for those visitors possessing culinary talent!

A sanctuary such as this would not be complete without a cozy fireplace, situated between the living and dining rooms. Large windows and skylights provide natural lighting as well as a constant and relaxing view of the wonders of nature found right outside your door. On those nights where rain is in the forecast, there are more than a hundred films, games of all kinds and a mini library promising hours of entertainment.

Green plants, personalized decor, recipe and reference books, and several other details one can expect from any quality establishment can all be found on premises. All you need to bring is your food and your personal belongings!

Green plants, decoration personalized recipe books and references and lots of little details that confirm our slogan.

Obviously, bedding, soap, paper handkerchiefs and toilet paper are included, in fact, you have your food and your personal belongings to win!

Outdoors

Sit back and relax!

The Martin-pêcheur sits on a large, heavily forested lot of nearly four acres close to the Rivière au Saumons. The conveniences found within the residence are reflected outside as well, where one can find comfortable patio furniture, a Barbeque, a boat (electric motor), a rowboat, two canoes, a kayak, life jackets, bikes, a hammock, a fishing pond, as well as a designated campfire area.

Neighbours include hares, deer, moose, beavers, otters, partridge, lynx, wild geese, loons, osprey, bitterns, ducks, herons and Kingfishers. The Martin-pêcheur truly is a birdwatchers paradise!

Despite the many daytime recreational options, it is the stars that come out a night that steal the show. Those coming from a city or suburb will be in for a special treat as you'll be dazzled by this breathtaking spectacle. Visitors will learn first-hand why the International Dark-Sky Association recognized this region as the world's first International Dark Sky Reserve.

Activities

The region surrounding the Martin-pêcheur offers plenty of activities for all seasons. The observatory, the Parc du Mont-Mégantic and the Astrolab are must-sees for any family. Magnetic Hill, the Gold Interpretation Centre and many other discoveries await you in the area.

In Spring

Springtime harkens the arrival of the yummy family sugar shacks, as well as migratory and breeding birds, trout fishing and the blossoming of nature in all its forms.

In Summer

Summertime fun includes boating on the river, swimming in the many lakes and streams of the region (the bay opposite the Martin-pêcheur is unfortunately not conducive to swimming), campfires (wood provided), cycling, fishing, hiking, golf, horseback riding, tourist circuits and many other possibilities to keep you busy. Or simply try relaxing in the hammock, the lawn chair or on the swing with a good book.

In Autumn

Autumn brings about an explosion of colours and scents, as well as the departure of migratory birds and, of course, for hunting fans, both small and large game hunting. One can take advantage of the longer nights for stargazing while enjoying the smell of the fireplace.

In Winter

The Winter months promise snow in the early fall until late spring, providing more than enough of the white stuff for the famous ski and snowshoe trails found at Parc du Mont-Mégantic. Spend time on the village skating rink or pond, take time to enjoy the beauty of the sun on new fallen snow, or create a small nest of your own in which to curl up in a chair by the fire (wood supplied).
